Bastian holds a diploma in Business Administration of the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt and graduated in 2008. He started his career at Lufthansa German Airlines in the area of revenue management developments. In 2008 he joined the IT provider Lufthansa Systems as Sales Executive and was responsible for airline and military customers in the Mediterranean and Middle East region. In 2011 he joined Air Berlin as Head of innovation where among others he was in charge of the evaluation and implementation of commercial systems such as revenue management, external market data sources and customer relationship management systems.
In 2013 he was promoted to Vice President Commercial Planning and Intelligence and took responsibility for the entire airlines’ revenue budgeting and sales steering process. After having worked for more than 8 years in the airline industry, Bastian joined the rental car company Sixt as Director Airline & Hotel Cooperation. As of mid 2016 Bastian has joined our company as Managing Director.
Dr. Michael Frank
Michael studied computer science at Clausthal University of Technology. He made his Ph.D. in mathematics in 2003. In parallel to his work as research assistance he started his career at Lufthansa German Airlines. While working in the operations control center and other departments he was mainly concerned with operations research topics. In 2003 he was appointed to the special program “Future european operations” which was directly reporting to the CEO. Afterwards he was Head of Competence Center Simulation. Building simulation together with Ph.D. students he pointed out the deficits of the revenue management systems in use.
That’s why he was appointed to rebuild the revenue management systems of Lufthansa. During a three year program new forecasting, optimization, reporting and training tools were created and put into operations. After the cutover Dr. Michael Frank was appointed Director IT Governance and took over the administration of the IT budget. Being 11 years at Lufthansa Dr. Frank was looking for new challenges. So he left Lufthansa and joined airberlin group as Vice President Commercial Information Systems. In that position he was responsible for introduction of new IT systems for revenue management, network planning and business intelligence. After he realized that he was only engaged with governance topics he left airberlin and founded his own company.
While working on this project he became more familiar with the technical aspects of revenue management as well as software development process. Since then his passion is to address business problems with a holistic business-centric approach which combines the science and technology. After the successful implementation, he joined Air Berlin Group as Head of Development of Commercial Information Systems. In that position, he was responsible for the implementation of a revenue management system including business and system training for all analysts and managers accordingly. After working for airlines for almost 10 years, he decided to make a change in his career to approach the problem from a different perspective. That perspective was as part of PROS, which is the market leader for revenue management software in the travel industry. In his role, there he was responsible for the implementation of features and enhancements that meet customers’ business needs. To accomplish this, he coordinated developers around the globe to implement the features. Additionally, he worked directly with customers as well as product management to understand the business needs and identify the right solution.
